Port Takola

In recent years, Krabi has opened its doors to new possibilities and growth. Last year saw the opening of Krabi Airport’s second international terminal, and with it brought condominiums and luxury villas throughout the province. New hotels and resorts are also being built at record speeds; Krabi is a place of growth. Now Krabi is expanding once again and soon to be the proud home of a future world-class marina, Port Takola. Resting on approximately 300 Rai of pristine beachfront property close to Ao Nam Mao, its location is ideal for a marina and residential community. Surrounding the developing property is a beautiful panoramic vista of stunning mountains that make Krabi’s landscape so unique. In the coming years the area will be transformed into a world class destination with 250 wet berths, a boatyard, residential villas with private yacht slips, a four to five star hotel and resort, a large public spa, a health and fitness centre, a relaxing botanical garden, a historical museum, a medical clinic and a sprawling lifestyle community of retailers and restaurants. The area will become a new centre of life in Krabi, and will change the international community’s opinion of the province.
Globally reputed marina developer, Simon Arrol, has been commissioned to design and plan Port Takola Yacht Marina & Boatyard. The marina has already begun dredging the basin and entrance channel to accommodate ten‚ 35 meter yachts. With over 25 years of marina development experience, Simon Arrol will lead the way in realising the Na Nagara family’s vision of this exclusive property.
Proximal to the Ao Nang beachfront and hub of activity – a mere 15 minutes away – Port Takola’s location is ideal for a residential community. A catamaran ferry is also being planned to operate between Port Takola and Krabi Town, increasing commuter accessibility between the two locations. Talking to the owner and developer’s son, Matthew na Nagara, he explains the fundamental reasoning behind naming his family yacht marina development, Port Takola.
The ancient Thai port city of Takola’s influence with regards to trade and commerce were like that of modern day Singapore, making it an important geographic location for both seafaring trade and overland trade connecting the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman sea. It's exact geographical location lies somewhere between Trang and Khao Lak but it’s reputation and influence is spread over a much wider area. Matthew na Nagara explains his vision for Port Takola;
“It is our dream that Port Takola will become one of the leading marinas and lifestyle retreats throughout Southeast Asia. The concept of Port Takola is not only focused around the marina but also around the developing property. For non-yacht owners there will many activities to join and experience at Port Takola, such as the lifestyle retail & restaurant centre, botanical gardens, and estate museum are only a few of these landmarks open to everyone at Port Takola." “We also wish that Port Takola will become a central location for events, parties and community gatherings in the Krabi region in the future”, Matthew continues. Port Takola plans to open the first phase of its marina toward the end of 2014. This phase will consist of 50 wet berths and facilities for yacht owners. Other facilities and more berths will continue to be added according the phasing plan.
Krabi is growing by leaps and bounds, and developments like Port Takola compound the chain of events that are making Krabi an even more attractive and recognised area of Thailand and Southeast Asia.
